Writing a blog is a difficult task to do when I want to go to the beach and the beach is just 5 minutes away. I can start my day out at the beach and enjoy the great breeze when im relaxing in my beach chair. I have always find ways to enjoy life. My motto this year is forgive people who seam to have a problem with me or what I did wrong. I can only control what I can control and let the rest go. Kayaking is a great way to get away from life and be with your own thoughts and refocus on positive things in life.
I was doing some research on how to write a good blog. Here is what For Dummies has to say,
“Bloggers with an especially engaging subject, such as chronicling a trip around the world, have the advantage of inherently interesting material, but even mundane material can attract an audience if you have an engaging style and voice.
Here are three guiding principles to writing a successful blog:
- Develop a writing style and tone appropriate to your subject material.
- Post often, even if your posts are short.
- Allow your readers to comment on your posts.” https://www.dummies.com/education/internet-basics/writing-a-good-blog/
I use “Google Documents” and write a number of questions about topics I want to know more about a general topic. My current website is about Kayaks Boats, How many articles can I write about kayaks and boats as many as I can think up. So far I have 5 articles or blogs. I want to do a family trip to Maryland and go boating. So I start with thinking about all the questions I can think up. Next I start research with Google and find my answers. Next I think how I can use the information and share it with the people who might use the information I find to plan their next family trip to Maryland to do some boating and more. Are there good hotels near me on my next trip is it a campground next to a lake? I want to ask my self if I can get a good long blog, lets say 2500 3500 word blog. If my follow bloggers are ranked higher for a similar blog I can use some of there ideas and do better research and give a better answer in hopes Google will rank me higher next month in the search results.
Where can I find a good spell checker for my wordpress blogs?
I am always looking to be a better writing. When I started with wordpress I didn’t know that it didn’t have a built in spell check and grammar, but I would find a plugin to help me with the answer. There are about 4 or 5 good plugins for wordpress but I use “WP Spell Check”. How it works is simple, it starts out by scanning your page or the whole website for spelling errors. My first scan returned about 71 errors, since I don’t use the pro vision I have to manually correct my error. Sidebar, when I start a new blog or thought I write it all out and then go back to correct all my errors. Sometimes I even publish my work without correcting the error so I don’t lose my work. I work all the time to improve my writing so I can get higher ranking in googles search results.
Is there a thresaurus plugin for wordpress blogging?
Yes, there is a thresaurus plugin for wordpress. Its’ called, “poolparty thresaurus.” How it works is,
“PoolParty thesaurus plugin helps to make WordPress blogs and websites more understandable. The website will be improved by linking posts with key terms and key terms with other key terms. The plugin imports a controlled vocabulary (SKOS thesaurus) or retrieves a thesaurus from a (public) SPARQL endpoint via web. Based on the thesaurus, terms in articles are high-lighted automatically, definitions are provided “inline” (as mouse-over effect) and links to the thesaurus terms are generated on-the-fly. The thesaurus is available as an extra resource on the blog and can be navigated to learn more about the knowledge domain instantly. The plugin also works with multilingual blogs. Dbpedia (Linked data) is used to retrieve definitions automatically whenever the imported thesaurus lacks of definitions.
With this plugin any SKOS/RDF thesaurus can be imported or retrieved from a SPARQL endpoint and used within your WordPress blog to underpin articles with key terms.
On two extra pages (which are generated automatically) the thesaurus can be displayed and used as a browsable glossary on your blog. The main page of the glossary displays all concepts with their preferred labels and their alternative labels (synonyms). The list of concepts is displayed in an alphabetical order and can be filtered by their first letters. The second page represents the detail view of each concept. All kinds of labels and relations (prefLabel, altLabel, hiddenLabel, definition, scopNote, broader, narrower und related) of a given term (concept) can be loaded and displayed.” https://wordpress.org/plugins/poolparty-thesaurus/
I will be using this plugin to find better words to use in my blogs to get my point across. I like using useful tools to solve my problems in a timely fashion. It will help me deliver on most of my project that I will be doing in my Local SEO business and as I write more blogs on kayaks and boats.

What is the average length of most blogs?
The average lenght of most blogs are between 500 to 1000 words. To increase traffic to your site with better answers to questions people have its best to write longer blogs not worder but more to the point to help people find what they are looking for. My goal is to write blog that are 2500 to 3500 words and if I have to write longer blogs to get better ranks in Google I will.
If I write an 8000 word blog should I turn it into an ebook?
Yes, because 8000 word Blog would make a great start to an ebook. I could turn my 8000 word blog into an ebook and there are websites online that will tell you how to do that. heres one I find that might help you turn your next 8000 word blog into a cash cow, “I distinctly remember being asked early in my blogging (circa 2010), if I was going to write a book. My response was to laugh, “Are you kidding? Blog post size is just my speed right now!” But blog post after blog post and… five years later, I found I’d created a significant body of work. Very likely, so have you. Turn your amazing content into a completely new product – an eBook! It is much easier to turn blog posts into an eBook than you might imagine.
How do I turn these blog posts into an eBook?
There’s many routes to creating eBooks, from expensive software, to hiring someone to handle the creation and design of your book. But it’s easy (and free!) to create your own eBook and have full creative control.
1. Collect your post content.
Copy and paste text from the selected posts to a document in Microsoft Word or a Google Docs. You’ll need to reinsert images later, so remember to right-click and save images into a folder as you go.
2. Create a table of contents.
Use post titles to create your table of contents, then organize these “chapters” for easy reading flow. Creating a table of contents first will show you if you covered all the points necessary for the book. You may discover you need to write an extra chapter or section to fill in details or cover all the ground in your topic.
3. Add content to your eBook.
Content you will need will probably include:
- Cover / Title Page
- Table of Contents with page numbers
- Purpose
- How to use this book
- What you’ll find in this book
- About the Author
- Resources & links
- Contact information
- Copyright information
- Disclosures (if needed)
- Footnotes/sources (if needed)
4. Revise and edit for readability and accuracy.
It’s the part of writing we love to hate. But think of it like putting the finishing touches on a delicious cake. Carefully read each section start to finish. Because the content was originally written as blog posts over time, you may need to tweak wording so it makes sense.” https://www.thesitsgirls.com/make-money/how-to-turn-blog-posts-into-an-ebook/
I plan to use thesitsgirls.com to help me turn my blogs into an ebook down the road as i create more blogs.
Should I have a table of contents on my blogs?
I have read many blogs in the past 20 years or since the internet has been around. I have used Google as my main research tools as well. When I was a kid I use to go to the library and read books or take 3 books home for about 2 or 3 weeks at a time. I have enjoyed writing and understanding how to present my thoughts to the reader better.
The answer in short is yes it is a great idea if you have a long blog of 5000 words or more to have a table of content. By having a table of content you can help your visitors find the answers to their questions in your blog. For example,”
Ease Of Navigation
Although with the digital shift people have moved to keyword searches, it may not be the case with blog posts and therefore your readers may find a table of content at the start of your long blog post very handy.
The content list gives the reader guideposts. Not only to know what to expect from your post but also to point them to what they’re interested in. It determines whether a reader will read your content or not.
Therefore, take your time and prepare a comprehensive list of contents that encourage your readers to dive further into your content.
It’s A Good Guide For Your Writing
At the basic level, a table of contents consists of the different segments of your blog post. These segments divide the post into manageable chunks. Plus, they will guide your writing.
While there could be a tendency to feel that a long blog post is a heavy task, the different segments make it easier. This is because they divide it into manageable tasks. They will also help you eliminate repetition.
Readers Judge Your Post By The Table Of Contents
A table of contents acts as a judging point for your readers for your post. This is where they determine whether they’re going to read your blog post or not. The table of contents is a reflection of what is in your post.
A reader can determine whether your post is going to add value to them or not. In many instances, bloggers lose audiences when they write long posts. This is because readers are not sure if the blog post is going to meet their needs.” https://affiliateprofitsrevealed.com/table-of-contents/
If I can help my reader or researcher get what they need faster then I am doing my job and Google will reward me in a higher ranking.
