I like to travel down new roads and be apart of fun things. I was traveling down a road I have been down hundreds of times but really didn’t think that how it might be a great place for whitewater kayaking as I saw about dozen whitewater kayaks and people getting ready togo kayaking on the rapids of the Potomic River Northwest of Washington D.C.
I am going to go rental a whitewater kayak from a near by local rental company called, “Fletcher’s Boat House”. Their website has a lot of good information on what they offer for water activities:

While at Fletcher’s, you can even pick up your fishing license at the Tackle Shack along with expertly chosen fishing tackle suitable for local angling, not to mention snacks and refreshments!
You can also seize the day at this quaint DC boathouse with any of your favorite boating rentals like paddling, rowboating, canoeing and kayaking. Or, experience the area through one of our spectacular guided SUP and canoe tours. If you’re more of a landlubber, you and your family can rent bicycles for a leisurely ride along the many miles of beautiful trails.
Driving directions for people not from Washington D.C.:
From 495, take the Glen Echo exit onto Clara Barton Parkway. Follow Clara Barton Parkway until it becomes Canal Road at Chain Bridge. Continue on Canal Road until the entrance of Fletcher’s at Canal and Reservoir. *Please consider that Canal Road access is subject to weekday morning and evening one way rush hour restrictions.
From 66 East, take the Rosslyn exit to Key Bridge. Take a left onto Canal Road after crossing over Key Bridge. Bear left at Foxhall to stay on Canal Road and continue onward until the entrance of Fletcher’s at Canal and Reservoir.
Parking is available on both sides of the canal.Go through the auto tunnel under the canal to reach the west side parking lot.
So back to planning my next whitewater kayaking for the spring, since I don’t live in Washington D.C. but visit a lot with family and friends. I will look online for how I will be traveling there and suggest you use those services to save big where and when you can, but always book in advance!

When spring gets here I will be staying at the Key Bridge Marriott at Lees Highway. I will Book it for about $305 a night in the first week of Apirl.
They have free parking and a lot of trails nearby for hiking in the morning.
